Lil Durk’s concert at United Center was closed Saturday evening after false reports of shootings were received near the area.
A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department said police officers responded to a call to fire. The reports were later determined to be “untrue”, but the department did not release any additional details.
Videos on social media showed concertgoers hurrying up and down the stairs as armed police officers scanned the arena.
“We are working closely with authorities to investigate all incidents that occurred last night at the WGCI Summer Jam show,” United Center said in a statement. “It’s clear to everyone that it’s in everyone’s interest to end the show early, as the safety of our guests and employees is a priority. We are grateful that the initial incident reports were inaccurate and the guests left the property safe.”
Lil Durk was born Durk Derrick Banks in Chicago. His second concert at United Center this weekend, Saturday, wraps up the series for the WGCI Summer Jam show.
