Country music star Deana Carter and alternative rock band Better Than Ezra, known for hits like “Desperately Wanting,” will perform at PrairieFest in Oswego this summer, organizers announced.
Presented by the Oswegoland Park District, the festival will be held June 13-16. PrairieFest events are held throughout Oswego, and the main festival site is located at PrairieFest Park, 91 Plank Road.
A must for the event are free concerts. On June 13, the music will kick off at the PrairieWinds Community Concert with vocal choirs from local high schools and other area musicians. Headlining that night will be Chicagoland yacht rock band The Ron Burgundys.
Local band Ethan Bell and Cowboy Co. The Country Music Show will unveil the music on June 14. The PrairieFest main stage will host five-time platinum winner Deana Carter, who has produced many hits including “Strawberry Wine”, at 21:00. ,” “And Still We Danced,” and “How Can I Get There.”
The June 15 show features Kurt performing Acoustic Refreshment and There Goes The Neighborhood in front of headliner Better Than Ezra, whose hits include “Good” and “King of New Orleans.”
The last day of the festival will feature the PrairieFest 5K and Prairie Dog Jog. The PrairieFest parade will begin at 1 p.m. on Main Street in Oswego.
The last band of the weekend, the Beatles tribute band American English, will take the stage at 16:00.
PrairieFest will also feature a variety of events, including a carnival, cotton candy eating contest, touch-the-truck event, an area featuring local vendors, numerous food options and more.
The festival has been a part of the summer calendar in Oswego for years and usually draws about 75,000 people over the four days, organizers said.
