“I was very lucky,” Sternhagen told the Daily Breeze in Torrance, California, in 2002. “And I think a lot of that comes from the fact that I’m considered a character actor, which means you can really do a wide variety of things. That doesn’t mean you can’t do leading roles, because I’ve done them. But you’re not limited to playing yourself.”
