Temperatures could reach as high as 61 degrees on Wednesday, with a chance for light showers around midnight, National Weather Service officials said.

Current morning conditions at O’Hare International Airport are mostly cloudy at 50 degrees, and conditions are the same further south at Midway Airport, officials said.

Officials said southwest winds were 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Winds are expected to shift to the northeast later Wednesday, gusting at about five mph with a 20 percent chance of showers after midnight.

Isolated scattered thunderstorms may develop south of I-80 in the evening into the early hours of the night, with a slight chance of dime- to quarter-size hail, officials said.

The chance of showers has increased to 40 percent on Thursday, but a sunny weekend is expected, officials said.
