Interesting downtown restaurants serving food to Park Ridge Feb. 23-29 – Chicago Tribune

Park Ridge residents will be able to sample highly-rated downtown Chicago restaurants from Feb. 23 through Feb. 29 via a third-party delivery service.

Park Ridge, Des Plaines and Arlington Heights residents can order home delivery from Pilsen’s HaiSous Vietnamese Cuisine and Logan Square’s The Whale and Roots Pizza, which has locations in West Town and South Loop, through DwellSocial.

According to DwellSocial co-founder and CEO Allen Shulman, the company is partnering with restaurants in Chicago to create a special menu that can be delivered long distances. Schulman said it differs from other food delivery services in that it is not on demand and deliveries are often outside the typical food delivery radius.

Park Ridge customers can eat at HaiSous Vietnamese Cuisine on Feb. 23 if they order online before noon, at The Whale if they order before 11 a.m. on Feb. 28, and at Roots Pizza if they order online before noon on Feb. 29. They can place the order.

During that week, customers can order staples from these restaurants, including Chef Thai’s Caramelized Fish Sauce Wings, Lobster Deviled Eggs, Margherita Pizza, as well as cakes from West Town Bakery.

In addition to the cost of the meal, customers also pay sales tax, a $5 reservation fee and an 18% delivery fee, according to Shulman. From now on, tipping will be optional.

Meals shipped to the northern suburbs are made in the restaurant’s own kitchens, Schulman said. He said most delivery drivers work directly with DwellSocial, but some restaurants offer their own service.

DwellSocial pivoted to better connect restaurants and suburbs during the pandemic, Schulman said. The site matches 40 restaurants and changes its menu every week.
