DAVIDSON, N.C. – Miles Rubin and Des Watson scored 13 points each to lead Loyola to a 69-59 victory over Davidson on Wednesday night.

Rubin added five blocks for the Ramblers (22-8, 14-3 Atlantic 10), tying the program’s season record of 66 set by Andre Moore in 1984-85. Braden Norris made three 3-pointers and finished the game with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Rubin also had nine rebounds.

“Davidson was playing the best teams in the league very close in this game,” coach Drew Valentine said. According to the Loyola athletics website. “They are a good team and at the start of the first half I thought we didn’t do a good job of getting the look we wanted.

“We locked in on our game plan and increased our intensity, especially going into the second half. We increased our urgency on defense, and our execution and tempo got better on offense.”

Leading 32-30 at halftime, Loyola opened the second half with an 8-2 run, then increased its lead to 56-39 with a 13-2 run with 8 minutes, 36 seconds left and never looked back.

Connor Kochera led the Wildcats (15-15, 5-12) with 22 points. Bobby Durkin scored 13 points and Grant Huffman scored 11 points.

The Ramblers will wrap up their regular season against La Salle on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Gentile Arena. The A-10 Tournament begins Tuesday at Barclays Center in New York. Loyola’s first tournament game is scheduled for March 14.
