Loyola men’s basketball defeats George Mason 85-79 – Chicago Tribune

FAIRFAX, Va. — Sheldon Edwards scored 27 points as the Loyola men’s basketball team defeated George Mason 85-79 on Wednesday.

Edwards had five steals for the Ramblers (16-7, 8-2 Atlantic 10 Conference). Des Watson added 14 points by making 5 of 11 shots (2-of-5 from 3-point range). Philip Alston scored 14 points by shooting 5/8 from the field and 3/6 from the line.

Keyshawn Hall played with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the Patriots (15-8, 4-6). Darius Maddox added 18 points for George Mason. Additionally, Baraka Okojie recorded 15 points and two steals.

Loyola is back to winning ways after a dismal first season in the Atlantic 10 with a ‘fresh vibe’ from some new players.

Edwards scored 13 points in the first half and Loyola trailed 44-36 at halftime. Loyola came back from a deficit with an 8-0 run in the second half and completed the victory by taking a 73-68 lead with 4:33 left in the half. Edwards scored 14 points in the second half.
