Meet the 2023-24 Aurora-Elgin all-region girls basketball team

Players from Waubonsie Valley, which finished fourth in Class 4A, led the way, including seven college students from the area.

first team

Brooke CarlsonBatavia, senior, guard: He averaged 22.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 3.9 steals. First team all-state. Two-time DuKane Conference player of the year. He is the program’s all-time leading scorer with 2,225 points. It is affiliated with the State of Colorado.

Riley CwinskiAurora Central Catholic, junior, advanced: The average was 19.4 points. Special mention to all states. He set a program record for career points with 1,469 points and single-season points with 620 points. He was named the team’s MVP.

Danielle StoryWaubonsie Valley, sophomore, guard: He averaged 19.4 points, 6.4 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.6 steals. Second team all-state. DuPage Valley Conference player of the year. He reached his 1,000th career point.

Leah PalmerGeneva, senior, forward: He averaged 21 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.5 steals. Second team all-state. Twice all-conference. I’m committed to Lewis.

Reagan CiplaSt. Charles North, senior, guard: He averaged 16 points, 6.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals. Special mention to all states. All conferences. I’m affiliated with Quinnipiac.

Second Team

Kendra BrownKaneland, junior, guard: He averaged 13.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 2.5 steals. Special mention to all states. He made a program record 83 3-pointers. He reached his 1,000th career point.

Sofia CorralAurora Central Catholic, junior, guard: He averaged 13 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals. Special mention to all states. He reached his 1,000th career point.

Lexi DiOrioSt. Charles East, senior, guard: He averaged 10.8 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals. All conferences. He reached his 1,000th career point. I’m based in Kokomo, Indiana.

Hannah LaubWaubonsie Valley, senior, forward: He averaged 12.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.2 steals, 1.9 assists, 1.4 blocks. Special mention to all states. All conferences. He reached his 1,000th career point. It depends on the army.

Brooke SpychalskiYorkville, subordinate, guard: He averaged 16.9 points and 4.7 rebounds. He also recorded 85 assists and 37 steals. Special mention to all states. All conferences.

Third Team

Anna HerrmannHinckley-Big Rock, sophomore, guard: He averaged 14.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.7 steals. 107 3-point LEDs Class 1A. Third team all-state. All conferences.

Ashley HerzingHampshire, senior, guard: The average was 13 points. He also had 67 steals. He reached his 1,000th career point. All conferences. It’s up to Macalester.

Maggie LewandowskiOswego East, junior, guard: Southwest Prairie West’s co-MVP. He averaged 14 points, 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.0 steals.

Savannah LynchSt. Edward, freshman, guard: He averaged 17.4 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.8 assists. Special mention to all states. All conferences.

Laney StarkSt. Charles North, senior, guard: He averaged 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 5.0 steals. Special mention to all states. He set a program career record for steals. I’m committed to Wisconsin-Green Bay for football.
