COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State fired seventh-year basketball coach Chris Holtmann on Wednesday as the Buckeyes embarked on yet another subpar season.
In a statement from the school, it was stated that assistant head coach Jake Diebler will run the program for the remainder of the season and the search for a new head coach will begin after this date.
Ohio State is 14-11 and 4-10 in the Big Ten and has lost nine of its last 11. In 2022-23, the Buckeyes suffered their first losing season in nearly two decades, finishing with scores of 16-19 and 5-15. Big Ten.

In 2022, Ohio State gave Holtmann a three-year contract extension, increasing his salary to approximately $3.5 million per season. He will be owed the remaining $12.8 million on his contract.
