Valpo police are investigating Friday’s shooting; One injured, one questioned

According to Valparaiso Police, one person was injured in the Friday afternoon shooting and another person was taken for questioning.

Police were called to the 350 block of South Locust Street around 3:50 p.m. March 8 for a report of a person shot, according to Capt. Joe Hall, the department’s public information officer.

The police were directed to a citizen injured by a bullet. A second person who came to the scene told the police that he was directly involved in the incident. He was taken into custody and transported to the Valparaiso Police Department for further investigation.

The injured person was removed from the scene and received treatment.

Stating that the investigation is ongoing, but that there is no known threat to society because the incident appears to be specific to the people involved, Hall added that additional information will be released when and if it becomes available.

Additionally, information can be written to TIP411 (847-411) and “Valpo” can be written in the message field before the message is sent. Use the word “Locust” in the first line of the clue to describe the case.
