A man was seriously injured while walking overnight in the East Chatham neighborhood on the South Side, Chicago police said.
The man was walking in the 8000 block of South Drexel Boulevard around 1:10 a.m. when someone opened fire, striking him in the face. Police said he was taken to UChicago Medicine, where he was listed in critical condition.
There was no one in custody and detectives were investigating.
