Weather officials say highs are expected in the mid-40s Wednesday – Chicago Tribune

As the National Weather Service begins Illinois Severe Weather Preparedness Week, officials were expecting high temperatures in the mid-40s on Tuesday, following Monday when temperatures reached 70 degrees.

Warm Monday temperatures followed a night of stormy storms across parts of northeastern and central Illinois.

High temperatures near the mid-40s are expected on Tuesday, with a 60 percent chance of rain in the morning. Officials expect breezy conditions with wind gusts as high as 30 mph.

The weather is expected to be partly cloudy and windy in the evening.

As part of the Illinois National Weather Service Prepare for Severe Weather Conditions Next week, officials said a statewide tornado drill will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 6.

Current conditions at O’Hare International Airport were light rain and wind chills of 41 degrees. At Midway Airport, conditions further south are the same at 43 degrees.
