Democrats and Republicans vote on who they want to run for president and other offices. Then, after these votes are counted, the delegates are rewarded.
Delegates are people elected to represent their community at their political party’s presidential nominating convention. In fact, they are the ones who choose the candidate who will represent their party in the November elections.
Candidates must win a majority to receive their party’s nomination.
