Disney Theater Group said Thursday it is planning a grand tour for the 30th anniversary of “Beauty and the Beast,” which will officially open in July 2025 at the Cadillac Palace Theater in the Chicago Loop.
Many members of the original creative team, including composer Alan Menken, songwriter Tim Rice and book author Linda Woolverton returns to work on seminal long-running show 13 years on Broadway from 1994 to 2007.
“Beauty and the Beast” was pivotal to the early growth of what was then known as Disney Theatres, sparking a revival of Disney’s animated film franchise by giving it the structure of stage musicals. The original production appeared in Chicago at the Chicago Theater, which Disney once considered purchasing.
After Chicago, the tour is expected to go on sale in Minneapolis in August 2025. Group tickets are on sale now, individual tickets will be available at a later date; More information at www.broadwayinchicago.com.
