Loyola men’s basketball team’s winning streak was ended by Saint Bonaventure, 79-64

OLEAN, NY — Daryl Banks III scored 26 points off the bench to lead the Saint Bonaventure men’s basketball team to a 79-64 victory over Loyola on Tuesday night.

Banks made 5 of 13 shots, including 4-of-8 3-pointers, and made 12-of-12 shooting for the Bonnies (18-10, 9-7 Atlantic 10 Conference). Chad Venning recorded 18 points and 6 rebounds, shooting 6/11 and 6/7 from the free throw line. Moses Flowers had 12 points, shooting 4/7 (1/3 from 3-point range) and 3/3 from the free throw line.

Philip Alston finished the game with 12 points for the Ramblers (20-8, 12-3). Braden Norris added 11 points, seven assists and two steals for Loyola. Des Watson also finished the game with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Ramblers had their seven-game winning streak broken with this loss.

Saint Bonaventure took the lead with 12:17 left in the first half and never looked back. Leading 41-26 at halftime, Saint Bonaventure went on a 13-3 run in the second half and took the lead by 21 points.

Saint Bonaventure’s next game will be played on the road against George Washington on Wednesday. Loyola will host No. 21 Dayton on Friday.
