Lunar New Year celebration at St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish in Chicago – Chicago Tribune

St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta Parish has incorporated elements of Chinese New Year cultural traditions before and during the celebratory liturgy for more than two decades. This year’s Lunar New Year celebration, Year of the Dragon, began with lighting outside the church. fireworks, parishioners and guests inside, a lion dance and St. Paul’s dance accompanied by cultural music in the church corridors before the Mass. They participated in symbolic moments such as a drum dance performance by Therese Chinese Catholic School students.
