DuPage receives grant for green analysis and upgrades

The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded DuPage County a grant of approximately $450,000 for clean energy and energy efficiency programs, county officials announced.

The funding, funded through the $20.5 million federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program, will be used to make green improvements to the county’s government campus in Wheaton, including two electric vehicle charging ports outside the 505 Judicial Office facility that will accommodate four cars.

It will also pay for more solar panels on the roof of the 421 Administration Building and LED light upgrades across campus, as well as a workforce analysis to determine supply and demand for clean energy-related jobs and provide clean energy-related job training. Officials spoke about the findings of the analysis.
