Teenage boy fatally injured in Garfield Park neighborhood overnight – Chicago Tribune

A 17-year-old boy was fatally wounded in a shooting in the West Side’s Garfield Park neighborhood Thursday night, Chicago police said.

Around 10:20 p.m., officers responded to a residence in the 3600 block of West Franklin Avenue for reports of shots fired and found a 17-year-old boy unresponsive, police said.

It was announced that the young man suffered many injuries in his chest and head and died at the scene.

He was identified as Treyvon M. Short of the 4700 block of South Ingleside Avenue, according to the Cook County coroner’s office.

There was no one in custody and detectives were investigating the circumstances leading up to the shooting.
